FIRE LOOKING TO PARTY LIKE ITS 1999

The Fire head to Colorado this weekend to face the Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. While the Fire have an edge in the all-time series against the Rapids (14-11-5) Chicago just can't seem to figure out the Mile High City. The Fire have defeated the Rapids just twice when playing in Colorado - the last time being on Oct. 6, 1999.
The Rapids have played every July 4th game on home soil since the team's inception and have posted an impressive 11-1-1 record in July 4th matches. Coincidentally, the only time the Rapids lost on July 4th was in ... 1999.
Both the Fire and the Rapids have 2009 records of 5-3-6 (21 pts).
Both the Fire and the Rapids have scored 21 goals in 2009.
The Rapids have a slight advantage in goal differential having only allowed 18 goals as compared the 19 the Fire have allowed in 2009.
Both teams sit in fourth place in their respective conferences (East and West) and will be looking to pick up important points this weekend!
